Milton Film Festival Presents Free Screening for National Film Day

This is the movie being presented for a free screening presented by the Milton Film Festival

The Milton Film Festival will be presenting a free screening of the award-winning documentary ‘Stories We Tell’ at the Milton Centre for the Arts on April 19th – a date designated as REEL CANADA’s National Canadian Film Day 150. Milton will be one of over 150 locations showing classic Canadian films all across the country that day.

‘Stories We Tell’, directed by acclaimed Canadian director Sarah Polley, was chosen by Milton Film Festival audience members from a list of essential moving-image works compiled for Canada on Screen, part of TIFF’s free year-long programme celebrating Canada 150.

In ‘Stories We Tell’, Polley is both filmmaker and detective as she investigates the secrets kept by a family of storytellers. She playfully interviews and interrogates a cast of characters of varying reliability, eliciting refreshingly candid, yet mostly contradictory, answers to the same questions. As each relates their version of the family mythology, Polley unravels the paradoxes to reveal the essence of family: always complicated, warmly messy and fiercely loving.

The screening will take place at 7:30 pm on Wednesday April 19th in the MinMaxx Theatre at the Milton Centre for the Arts, 1010 Main St. E. Admission and parking are free. Tickets are on a first come, first serve basis and will be available in the arts centre lobby starting at 6:30 pm the day of the screening.

Canada on Screen is a co-production between TIFF and three core project partners Library and Archives Canada, the Cinémathèque québécoise, and The Cinematheque in Vancouver. Canada on Screen is made possible by Presenting Partners the Government of Canada, the Royal Bank of Canada and the Government of Ontario, and Supporting Partner Telefilm Canada. National Canadian Film Day 150 is presented by REEL CANADA.
