Town of Milton Staff updated Council on its plan to recover from COVID-19. “We have reached week eight of managing and responding to COVID-19 and our approach has been cohesive and deliberate,” said Mayor Gord Krantz.

The plan includes delivering services with public health guidelines while respecting health and safety rules.  A lot of work is completed using alternative and innovative service delivery plans. Many services and programs are available to the community by phone or online. The COVID-19 section of the Town’s website has recently been revamped to provide residents with accurate information regarding federal and provincial announcements.

The recovery framework includes a phased in approach taking health and safety of residents as well as staff.  The first phase will start with  staff members required to work in the field in areas such as by-law enforcement, facility maintenance, and the fire department.

The economic recovery establishes a Economic Recovery Task force.  The purpose of the new body is to:

  • Advocate on behalf of Milton’s business community for support at all levels of government
  • Provide expertise and recommendations on the development of longer-term goals and tactics to help guide Milton’s local economic recovery efforts
  • Maintain sightlines to the province’s three-phased plan for reopening Ontario’s economy in order to ensure Milton’s local response aligns with all levels of government

“The Town of Milton continues to work with community partners, the business community and neighbouring municipalities to prepare for a safe and successful transition to recovery, when the provincial emergency orders are loosened,” Krantz said.  To read more about the Town’s recovery plans visit their website.
