The Milton Sports Hall of Fame (MSHOF) added five members last month in ceremonies held at the First Ontario Centre for the Arts. Three were classified as builders.
This year’s builders were:
Tina Braam, who forged a legacy in the triathlon/duathlon world at time when women weren’t involved in the sport at all. She, along with a team of dedicated volunteers have built a one-off event at Kelso, into a series of events held throughout Ontario.
Peter McMullen was known for both baseball, and hockey. “I have worked hard for baseball, but I am sure that I received more enjoyment out of the game than most people can ever dream of,” he said. McMullen served as President of the Milton Baseball Club, Halton County Baseball Association , and the President of the Milton Merchants.
Larry “Mooch” Jaroslawski, coached E.C. Drury high school’s wrestling program to new heights beginning in 1985. A decade later the program had won an OFSAA medal in 1989, and a gold in 1994. The team won five consecutive championships from 2000-2004. They won a sixth under the Craig Kielburger Secondary School Spartans banner.
‘This, the newest class of inductees of the Milton Sports Hall of Fame represents a diverse range of athletic achievement, represented by both men, and women, builders, and athletes,” Milton Sports Hall of Fame Chairman Uwe Samstag-Schnock said. The other two inductees were Kevin Iwasa-Madge for his achievements in wrestling and Howie Scannell Sr for achievements in stock car racing.
The Milton Sports Hall of Fame has now opened submissions for the class of 2025. Please visit their website for more information.
