Halton Regional Police Service once again launched Project GET BACK on Monday, November 7, a traffic safety initiative that targets drivers who fail to stop for a school bus when the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is out.
Officers in Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Georgetown and Acton will be out patrolling school zones.
Citizens are encouraged to report incidents of drivers who fail to stop for a school bus by visiting our website at www.haltonpolice.ca or our mobile application.
Traffic safety is a shared responsibility. As part of Crime Prevention Week, the Service aims to increase social conscience and prevent dangerous driving behaviours through education and enforcement.
“The Halton Regional Police Service is committed to combating this type of behaviour to keep our roads and children safe,” said Sergeant Bistas.
Violators who fail to stop for a school bus face fines ranging between $400 to $2,000 and six demerit points for a first offence.
