Milton Transit enhancements start April 3

The first phase of changes to Milton Transit 2017 get rolling on April 3. Improvements include new routes, route and schedule adjustments, and a new pilot with service to/from Campbellville.

“We listened very carefully to what residents and stakeholders had to say about Milton Transit and we are acting on their feedback,” said Milton Mayor Gord Krantz. “These service improvements will provide important connections to help residents get to their work, school and play destinations.”

Willmott and Ford Neighbourhoods will be serviced by new route 9 Ontario South, via Ontario Street and Regional Road 25, to Britannia Road. The new 1C Industrial route starts April 8, offering service on Saturdays to the 401 Business Park at High Point Drive, connecting transit customers to employment areas as well as GO Transit and other Milton Transit routes.

A pilot project will provide fixed route service to Campbellville on weekdays and Saturdays, with evening drop-off service on Friday and Saturday, and supplementary service on Sundays. The 62 Campbellville route will connect to three weekday morning and afternoon GO Trains, and other Milton Transit routes at the Milton GO Station. New Milton Transit ticket agents include Cristello’s Village Market in downtown Campbellville, Mohawk Racetrack/OLG (Gift Shop) and Mohawk Inn.

More midday, weekday trips have been added on the 4 Thompson/Clark route and further route adjustments will be made for the 5 Yates, 7 Harrison and 8 Willmott routes to improve schedule reliability.

With GO Station parking at capacity, Milton Transit is reminding GTA commuters about the significant savings with the GO Transit Fare Integration Program. Passengers connecting with GO Transit services at the Milton GO Station can pay a discounted fare on Milton Transit, with $0.70 cash or a GO Transfer monthly pass, available for $28.00. A valid PRESTO card, GO pass or GO ticket is required and must be shown to the operator upon boarding a Milton Transit bus, when depositing the discounted fare.

Milton Transit’s Bike and Ride Program encourages active mobility by combining cycling and transit. All buses are equipped with front-loading bike racks to help connect to a variety of destinations, including trails and bikeways. Enter the Milton Transit contest for a chance to win a bike by taking to Twitter to say, “What will you do on route 62?” using #NewRoute62. The contest closes on May 14.

More Milton Transit improvements will be implemented later this year, including later service on weekday evenings, starting September 5.
