Halton Hills residents will have the opportunity to weigh in on a development proposal that could reshape Georgetown with new housing, a high school and commercial space.

A public meeting, slated for March 30 at 6 p.m., will discuss applications for a zoning bylaw amendment and a draft plan of a subdivision for 10823 Trafalgar Rd.

The 96-acre property is located on the east side of Trafalgar Road, approximately half a kilometre south of 15 Sideroad.

The proposed subdivision includes a diverse mix of land uses:

There will be a combination of townhouses, medium-density and high-density residential units.

Two parcels on the southern border are designated for institutional use, including a five-hectare plot intended for a high school.

Mixed-use and commercial blocks will be situated along the Trafalgar Road side and the main collector road.

The plan also incorporates a community park and two parkettes.

The land is currently zoned for agricultural usage, but is a part of the area set for development in the Vision Georgetown secondary plan.

Residents can participate in the public meeting either in person at town hall (1 Halton Hills Dr., Georgetown) or virtually via Zoom.

Those wishing to speak as a delegation must register by 6 p.m. on March 30. Registration can be completed by emailing clerks@haltonhills.ca or by filling out a registration card at town hall.
