Agenda Notes January 29, 2018: ReStore Rezoning

Habitat for Humanity owns a second-hand shop for furniture, and household items called: ReStore.  Its current location is the corner Brown St, and Main, in the old Post Office building.  It has applied for a rezoning application for a property at 151 Steeles Ave. East with a proposal to relocate from the current location off Main St.

The application is one of three public meetings on the agenda for January 29, 2018.  I was there a few weeks ago and noticed a blue sign on the door with a letter asking for the public to write to councillors, and the planning department.  The recommendation is to take the report for information; no final decision will be made on Monday night.

If approved, it represents an important step in the redevelopment of Downtown Milton.  The idea is to redesign that area, making into a ceremonial square going straight through to Mary Street.  There is a video tour of the proposed area:
