Brampton City Council approved the 2016 Community Grant Program and applications are being accepted for the following streams: Arts and Culture, Sports, Parks and Recreation, Festivals and Celebration Events, and Minor General Community Donations. The deadline for applications is February 8, 2016.
“This is a great opportunity for Brampton’s community groups, sports clubs, neighbourhood volunteer groups and festival and event organizers to apply for City funding,” said Brampton City Councillor Gurpreet Singh Dhillon. “It’s also an opportunity for local groups and organizations to continue hosting great initiatives and programs for residents throughout the City of Brampton.”
Community information sessions will be held January 12, 20 and 28 at 6:30 pm at City Hall in the West Tower to present information regarding the program to organizations interested in applying.
“The Community Grant Program supports City Council’s commitment to increase transparency and accountability in all City operations,” said Dhillon. “It is in line with the strategic goals of the City and recognizes that through grant making, the City is supporting not-for-profit community groups and volunteer-based organizations with events and projects that build civic pride and foster positive city image.”
Through the 2015 Community Grant Program, Council approved and distributed grants to more than 35 groups, awarding a total of $691,150. For a complete list of 2015 Community Grant recipients and for more information about the 2016 program, please visit www.brampton.ca.
