The Halton Police – Regional Auto Theft Task Force – has made significant breakthroughs in their ongoing investigation into stolen auto cases, resulting in the arrest of two individuals believed to be part of an extensive auto theft network operating in the Halton region and Greater Toronto area.
In early September, the Task Force honed in on a suspect they believed was responsible for a string of auto thefts in the region. Their investigation led to the discovery of numerous stolen vehicles at a commercial property in Orangeville, uncovered through the execution of a Criminal Code search warrant. Subsequently, further leads led them to an industrial warehouse in Toronto, where additional stolen vehicles were located.
On September 21, 2023, the Task Force carried out a search warrant at a residential property in Oakville, resulting in the apprehension of two male suspects linked to the auto theft network. Arrest warrants have also been issued for two other individuals involved in the operation.
The arrested individuals have been identified as follows:
Ali Kirisikoglu (20) from Quebec, charged with theft of motor vehicle (3 counts), trafficking in property obtained by crime, possession of automobile master key, possession of device to obtain computer service, and possession of break-in instruments. Kirisikoglu is currently in custody and awaiting a bail hearing.
Nicolas St-Jean-Lamothe (26) from Quebec, charged with theft of motor vehicle (2 counts), trafficking in property obtained by crime, possession of automobile master key, possession of device to obtain computer service, and possession of break-in instruments.
The Task Force’s relentless efforts have led to the recovery of 25 stolen vehicles during this investigation.
