Bishop Reding Expansion Proceeds with Final Approval

Bishop Reding Secondary School has gotten the final approval for its expansion.  The announcement of $18 million in funding came from Milton MPP Parm Gill in a statement February 13.

“The funding for this project has been authorized and all necessary approvals have been given in order to move this project forward,” Gill stated.  The expansion will accommodate 609 students.

Gill said the decision reflected feedback during the 2018 provincial election campaign.  “I heard from many parents and students from Bishop Reding about the dire situation they were in regarding the current capacity,” he said.  The initial funding was announced by former Education Minister Indira Naidoo-Harris in January, 2018.

The school has 44 portables on its property.  The new expansion is to include a cafeteria, a childcare centre, and 29 new classrooms.  Gill promised to keep tabs on the project.  “We will continue to closely monitor this project moving forward.
