Boil Water Advisory In Effect For Milton

From Halton Region’s Medical Officer of Health:

Halton Region’s Medical Officer of Health has issued a Boil Water Advisory for an area in Milton as a result of a watermain break. The Boil Water Advisory is in effect until further notice for the following area.

There is a boil water advisory for the area in red due to a watermain break

It will be lifted once the safety of the water has been confirmed by laboratory tests. Residents should use an alternate water supply or boil their water at a rolling boil for at least one minute before drinking, gargling, brushing teeth or rinsing their mouth; making baby food or formula; washing fruits, vegetables and other food; or making any meals, drinks or ice.

For washing dishes:

  • If your dishwasher has a hot setting of 60°C (140°F) or higher, it will safely disinfect dishes. If you are unsure, after finishing the cycle, immerse dishes for one minute in a solution of 30 ml (1 oz.) of bleach mixed with 13.5 litres (3 gallons) of lukewarm water. Air dry dishes.
  • If you are washing dishes by hand, use soapy hot water, rinse in clean warm water, then immerse for one minute in a solution of 30 ml (1 oz.) of bleach mixed with 13.5 litres (3 gallons) of water. Air dry dishes.

Adults, and older children may shower, bathe, or wash using tap water, but avoid swallowing it.  Babies and toddlers should be given sponge baths instead of tub baths or showers.
