Campbellville to Celebrate Maple Season With Interactive Events

Conservation Halton’s Maple Season is in full swing, inviting visitors to celebrate the sweetest time of the year. Running on weekends, holidays, and throughout March Break until April 6, the annual tradition is taking place at Mountsberg’s Maple Town and Crawford Lake Conservation Area.

Mountsberg’s Maple Town offers a hands-on experience in the 150-year-old sugarbush, where visitors can watch sap being transformed into syrup in the evaporator, warm up by the fireside lounge, and explore challenges to become “certified” Sugar Rangers. Guests can sample maple sugar and syrup, enjoy pancakes drizzled with fresh syrup at the Pancake Pavilion, and purchase maple products from the Country Store.

“Visitors love the chance to get involved and learn about the history of maple syrup making – but the best part is sampling the sweet maple treats!” said Brenna Bartley, Conservation Halton’s education manager. “This year’s programs offer something for everyone, including our new and returning challenges for little ones to complete to become an official Sugar Ranger.”

Additional activities at Mountsberg include horse-drawn wagon rides, a maple sugar-making workshop, and visits to the animal barn and Raptor Centre trail, home to the park’s resident birds of prey and two new miniature horses. Visitors can also book Talons & Tailfeathers or a Raptor Encounter experience to learn more about Ontario’s birds of prey.

At Crawford Lake Conservation Area, Sweet Water Season explores the Indigenous heritage of maple sugaring. Guests can step into a reconstructed 15th-century longhouse village and learn how maple sugaring was the first harvest of the year. The Sweet Water demonstrations, held throughout the day, allow visitors to gather by the fire and discover the history of maple sugar making in Ontario. Guided syrup tastings will highlight the different colours and flavours of maple and birch syrups.

Visitors to Maple Town will receive a free voucher to attend Sweet Water Season at Crawford Lake. Maple Season programs are offered on weekends, holidays, and March Break until Sunday, April 6, 2025.
