Council Approves Siltala as Acting CAO

On Monday, May 13, Milton Council unanimously appointed Andrew Siltala as Acting CAO, effective June 15. The appointment follows Bill Mann’s decision to retire after 25 years of public service in Milton.   The appointment followed a confidential session.

“Andrew has a strong knowledge and understanding of many important files in the CAO’s office, and is well respected in the community,” said Milton Mayor Gord Krantz. “He is a collaborator with an entrepreneurial style that will be an asset to the corporation and keep important projects on track through this transition.”

Andrew Siltala joined the Town of Milton in 2000 and most recently held the position of Director, Strategic Initiatives and Economic Development in the CAO’s office. Prior to joining the Town of Milton, he managed a number of economic development organizations and was a project manager for a private sector engineering and planning firm.

“I welcome the opportunity to work with Council, Town staff and our community partners as Acting CAO,” said Andrew Siltala. “Milton is a dynamic community with a number of important initiatives underway and I am confident that we have a team in place to make the transition a smooth one.”

Over the summer months, Council will consider its next steps in the search for a permanent CAO taking into account the Province’s ongoing Regional Government Review initiative, which, began earlier this year.  “Council is considering how the Regional Government Review may impact the municipality,” Corporate Communications Director Jodie Sales said.
