A 27-year-old Etobicoke man is facing multiple charges in connection with a violent home invasion in Oakville earlier this year.

Halton Regional Police say officers responded to a home in the area of Coronation Drive and John Laird Circle on Jan. 10, after three masked suspects allegedly broke in, pointed firearms at residents, and demanded valuables before stealing a Mercedes SUV.

Although officers later recovered the stolen SUV, the suspects fled and were not located at the time.

Following an investigation by the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau, police say Numan Khan was arrested on March 6.

Khan is charged with breaking and entering, disguise with intent, robbery with a firearm, forcible confinement, theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime (over and under $5,000), possession of an automobile master key, and possession of an electronic device suitable for committing the theft of a motor vehicle.

He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.

Police say additional suspects are still being sought and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777, ext. 2216. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.haltoncrimestoppers.ca.

Halton police also offered several tips to help homeowners safeguard their properties, including locking all doors and windows, reinforcing doors, and parking vehicles out of sight or in locked garages.

More information on break-and-enter prevention is available on the Halton Regional Police Service website.
