The Region of Halton has issued an Extended Heat warning for the area starting today. The move follows the continuation of Environment Canada’s heat warning.
“Heat-related illnesses can affect anyone. Symptoms include dizziness or fainting, nausea or vomiting, headache, rapid breathing and heartbeat, extreme thirst and decrease urination. If you experience any symptoms as a result of heat exposure, immediately move to a cool place and drink liquids, ideally water,” Halton’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Hamdiah Meghani said. Halton Region stresses the importance of checking on those vulnerable family members and friends, including seniors who live alone, and those with breathing problems, heart problems.
The extended heat warning is issued when daytime temperatures expected to reach 31 degrees Celsius, with evening temperatures over 20 degrees Celsius.
