The Downtown Georgetown Farmers Market is just around the corner — and this year, it’s being expanded. This means visitors can expect an increase in seasonal vendors and also collaborations and events throughout the year.
Bethany Hanman, market manager for the Downtown Georgetown BIA, said the community can expect an additional 25 seasonal vendors this year, for a total of 98 vendors every week.
Hanman added the farmers market is always an exciting opportunity for people to shop local and to get to know the vendors from whom they are making purchases.
“It’s just a really lively market,” she said. “With everything in the political climate, it’s been so nice to really focus on shopping small and shopping Canadian businesses.”
Here’s what you need to know about the 2025 Downtown Georgetown Farmers Market.
When is the farmers market taking place?
The farmers market takes place every Saturday from May 31 to Oct. 18, between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
How far does the market expansion go?
The farmers market will take place along Main Street South, with the road closure extending toward Park Street and along Church Street to accommodate the additional vendors.
What kinds of goods will be sold?
Visitors can expect a variety of goods from local vendors including farm-fresh produce; jams, honey and maple syrup; artisanal foods and baked goods; soaps and wellness products; flowers and plants; crafts and more.
What notable events can be expected this year?
This year, in response to resident’s requests, Hanman said the BIA will be collaborating with Halton Hills Public Library to launch the first-ever kids’ market on July 19.
“We are planning on having most of the Church Street parking lot open to kids who would like to try selling things at the market,” she added. “It’s a really exciting opportunity to get the little ones interested in what it means to be a market vendor.”
The BIA is also collaborating with the Town of Halton Hills and the Georgetown Lions Club for the annual Bike it to the Market event on June 14.
Other notable events in the works for this season include an art day, Pride market, Canada Day, Thanksgiving market and a day to appreciate the markets’ furriest little visitors: dog day.
