The Halton Equity & Diversity Roundtable (HEDR) is inviting Halton Hills-based artists to create artwork to represent its two-day conference on June 3 and 4.
The theme for its 11th IDEA Leadership Conference, taking place at the John Elliott Theatre (9 Church St.) in Georgetown, is “Small Town, Big Ideas: Intersectional Paths to Equity in Urban and Rural Communities.” The HEDR is encouraging artists to visually explore the concept of intersectionality.
Artists of all experience levels can apply, with the submission deadline set for March 14. Accepted mediums include photography, drawings, paintings and mixed media. Sculptures will be accepted but must be photographed.
Participants must submit their entries in JPEG, PNG or PDF format along with their full name and artwork title. Artists can make their submission through the HEDR’s website.
The HEDR prefers vertical orientation entries, though horizontal works will also be considered.
The selected artwork will be announced on April 1 — with the artist receiving a $250 honorarium — and the winning entry will appear on all marketing and promotional materials.
Submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of conference committee members who will evaluate entries based on its alignment with the theme, artistic expression and overall impact, while also honouring diverse perspectives, lived experiences and creative practices.
By submitting, artists grant HEDR permission to use the image for promotional purposes related to the conference.
More details about the conference can be found on the HEDR’s website.
