The Town of Halton Hills has officially opened applications for its 2026 Community Grant Program.

Local non-profits, neighbourhood groups and community partners have until Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. to submit their proposals for funding.

This year’s program replaces and consolidates two previous initiatives, the Community Partnership Program and the Climate Change Investment Fund.

Funding categories

Based on feedback from residents and stakeholders, the town has reorganized the funding into four categories to better serve various types of projects. They include:

Community investment: For broader initiatives that benefit the town at large, including the launch of new initiatives or the expansion of existing activities and services. A maximum of $5,000 is available per project through the stream.

Environmental stewardship: Dedicated to projects focused on sustainability and climate action with a maximum of $2,500 available per project.

Neighbourhood projects: Specifically for hyperlocal improvements and grassroots efforts to build stronger and connected neighbourhoods. These projects are eligible for a one-time maximum of $250 per neighbourhood group.

Special events: To assist with the planning and execution of community-wide celebrations and gatherings. Funding varies based on the town’s event classification system. Applicants can email Halton Hills’ community development department at commdev@haltonhills.ca.

“Whether local volunteers are planning a neighbourhood project, organizing a special event, taking action to improve our environment or launching a new community initiative, this program helps bring great ideas to life,” said Mayor Ann Lawlor in a Jan. 13 news release.

Community Grant Program open house

The town will also host an open house on Jan. 29 at the Mold-Masters SportsPlex (221 Guelph St., Halton Hills) where community organizations can drop in, learn about the available funding streams, key dates and speak directly with staff for support throughout the application process.

Applicants are encouraged to visit the town’s website to review the application guidelines and to apply to the funding stream most suitable for their event, project or initiative.
