Halton Hills Public Library brings family fun to Acton, Georgetown with ‘Snow Days’ event

Families looking to add a little extra cheer to their holiday season are invited to take part in “Snow Days at the Library,” a series of free, drop-in activities.

 

The program will run on Dec. 22, 23 and 27, Dec. 29-31 and Jan. 2 at both Georgetown (9 Church St.) and Acton (17 River St.) branches.

 

There will be a rotating lineup of fun, family-friendly activities designed to keep kids engaged and entertained during the winter break.

 

Most sessions runs from 2 to 4 p.m., when families can stop by and participate.

 

Some of the activities slated to run at both branches during the duration of the event include:

 

  A winter scavenger hunt Participants can partake in a scavenger hunt and take a special outdoor-themed scavenger hunt play set home.

 

  A Lego challenge Aspiring builders are invited to create tall towers, strong bridges or creatures using Legos.

 

  A big blue blocks session Young creators can stack, construct and invent large-scale structures with the library’s big blue blocks.

 

  A community colouring session Young artists can unwind and socialize through colouring. The library will provide colouring sheets and supplies.

 

The Georgetown branch will host a gift bag and 3D-printing snowman crafting session on Monday, Dec. 22, where participants can decorate a festive gift bag and 3D-print a snowman toy to tuck inside.

 

On Wednesday, Dec. 31, the Georgetown and Acton branches will host a New Year’s crafting session from 10 to 11 a.m.

 

Residents are encouraged to check the full event schedule online and drop in to join the fun.
