Halton Hills Public Library’s virtual speaker series returns to local screens with a lineup of acclaimed writers and a Smithsonian curator.
The online program, presented in partnership with the Library Speakers Consortium, offers residents free access to the live talks and Q-and-A sessions.
The library previously held a virtual author series that started on Jan. 13 and ended on Feb. 24.
For Anah Mustapha, the library’s adult services librarian, the partnership offers “access to global literary talent that allows us to democratize high-level culture for our community.”
She added, “geography is no longer a barrier to intellectual growth.”
The upcoming spring slate kicks off on March 4 at 2 p.m., with rural humorist and author Michael Perry. He will discuss his memoir “Population: 485” as well as his fiction novel “The Jesus Cow.”
Following Perry, will be author Kate Quinn of “The Alice Network” and “The Rose Code” on March 12 at 7 p.m., for a conversation about her latest book “The Astral Library.”
On March 24, investigative journalist Shoshana Walter and author Barbara Kingsolver will discuss Walter’s book “Rehab: An American Scandal,” which is about the United States’ response to the opioid crisis.
