The Halton Police are actively investigating a series of break-ins plaguing the southeast Oakville area. Law enforcement responded to two separate break-ins within the same neighbourhood, suspecting a connection between the incidents and attributing them to an organized crew of criminals.
The burglaries are strategically executed, taking advantage of the diminishing daylight hours, with thieves specifically targeting homes when occupants may still be away at work. In both instances, suspects forcibly entered homes by smashing rear windows or patio doors, with a focus on the primary bedroom, to steal jewelry, cash, and other valuable items.
The Halton Regional Police Service’s 2 District Criminal Investigations Unit is diligently working on the case. However, as of now, no arrests have been made.
In light of these concerning events, the police are urging residents to adopt the following safety measures to deter break-and-enter crimes:
Create the illusion of occupancy when your residence is empty.
Ensure all windows and doors are locked and securely fastened.
Consider the installation of interior and exterior video surveillance cameras.
Foster open lines of communication with neighbours and promptly report any suspicious activities to the police.
These safety tips empower residents to safeguard their homes and communities while facilitating increased vigilance to curb further criminal activities.
