Halton police have made multiple arrests in vehicle theft and break-in cases, including a stolen vehicle ring and a suspected chop shop. Officers are also seeking public assistance in a Burlington break-in investigation. Meanwhile, the force hosted its inaugural Polar Plunge, raising over $15,000 for Special Olympics Ontario.

SIX ARRESTED IN STOLEN VEHICLE INVESTIGATION

The police have arrested six individuals and laid multiple charges following an investigation into a stolen vehicle in Oakville.

The police responded to a residence near Dundas Street and Sixth Line after a homeowner spotted suspects attempting to steal a license plate from a vehicle in their driveway. When the resident turned on the lights, the suspects fled. Investigators later discovered the group was staying in a short-term rental in the area. The police arrested six suspects at a Tim Hortons drive-thru on Centennial Parkway in Hamilton, where they were found in a stolen Acura SUV. A search of the vehicle revealed tools used for vehicle theft. The suspects, aged 16 to 18 from Vaughan, Markham, Scarborough, and Lion’s Head, face multiple charges. All six remain in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.

POLICE HOST INAUGURAL POLAR PLUNGE

The Police hosted its first-ever Halton Polar Plunge to raise funds for Special Olympics Ontario. The event brought together police officers and community partners, who bravely jumped into icy water to support athletes with intellectual disabilities. The event raised $15,300 thanks to generous donations, surpassing its $10,000 goal. Over 65 police members and community partners, including Deputy Chiefs Roger Wilkie, Jeff Hill, and Kevin Maher, participated in the event at HRPS Headquarters in Oakville. HRPS Deputy Chief Roger Wilkie, who also serves as President of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP), said: “This event is a great example of what police services mean when we talk about the concept of Community Safety and Well-Being.”

A search warrant uncovered further evidence of an active vehicle dismantling operation. Police later executed a second warrant on Jan. 31, 2025, at a Brampton residence, arresting Haider Ameer Khan. He is charged with various offences. Khan, a repeat offender, was held in custody pending a bail hearing. Police confirm this location has been investigated thrice in 18 months, and efforts are ongoing to ensure its permanent closure.

Haider Ameer Khan, 25, of Brampton, Shehroz Nadeem, 26, of Mississauga, and Jaskaran Singh, 24, of Grimsby have been charged with multiple offences related to the stolen vehicles. All three suspects have been released on bail and are scheduled to appear in Milton court on August 26.
