Halton Region will continue to provide essential services throughout the holiday season, ensuring residents have access to vital supports including waste management, water treatment, paramedic services, homelessness outreach, public health response, and long-term care.
Residents are reminded that administrative offices will be closed starting Wednesday, Dec. 24, and will reopen Friday, Jan. 2. During this period, the region encourages residents to reach out to Access Halton at 311 for assistance with any municipal services.
Waste management services will remain in operation during the holidays, though curbside collection may be delayed by one day in certain areas due to Christmas and New Year’s Day. Christmas trees will be collected during the weeks of Jan. 5 and Jan. 12. Residents are advised to check their local collection schedules and can sign up for collection reminders at halton.ca/waste.
The Halton Waste Management Site will also operate on a limited schedule, remaining open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 26, 27, 29, 30, 31, and Jan. 2, while closing on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Residents can drop off waste at the site during these open hours.
Halton Region’s homelessness support and outreach programs will continue throughout the holidays. These programs provide emergency shelter options and assistance for individuals seeking more permanent housing. Residents who encounter someone experiencing homelessness are encouraged to call 311 or email outreach@halton.ca for assistance.
For individuals facing a mental health crisis, the Crisis Outreach and Support Team (COAST) is available 24 hours a day at 1-877-825-9011. In life-threatening situations, residents are reminded to call 911 immediately.
Halton Region continues to emphasize the availability of essential services during the holiday period to ensure residents, particularly those in need, have access to support. For more information on services, schedules, and outreach programs, residents can visit halton.ca or follow the region on social media @regionofhalton.
