Halton Residents 18 can book Third COVID-19 Vaccine Booster As of Monday

By: Laura Steiner

Halton Region Residents over the age of 18 will be able to book their appointments of the COVID-19 vaccine starting Monday, December 20.  The decision follows a move by the province of Ontario to open vaccine appointments on the same day.

“Thank you to our incredible clinic team who are working hard to vaccinate as many people as possible, especially as we head into the holidays,” Halton Region Chair Gary Carr said.  Third dose appointments can be booked through the Region’s online booking system.  The Region is working to reopen clinics in both Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital  (OTMH), and at Joseph Brant Hospital.

The Community vaccination clinic in Milton will be relocating from the Centre for the Arts to 555 Ontario St for appointments starting December 20.  Hours will be:

  • December 20-23: 9:15 a.m.- 3:45 p.m.
  • December 27-30: 9:15 a.m.-3:45 pm.

The clinic will be giving the Pfizer vaccine. The appointments for vaccines are limited because of the provincial timelines.  The Region is encouraging residents to get their booster through their primary care providers.  Appointments will not available over Christmas.  “We thank the community for their patience during this time and are reminding residents to be kind to each other as we all get through this together,” Halton Region Communications’ Specialist Elizabeth Kosturik said in an email.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Hamidah Meghani is urging residents to continue following all Public Health guidelines.  “With the rapid spread of the Omicron variant, it is important for all Halton residents to continue to do their part,” Meghani said.  In a recent update to council Region Officials are suggesting residents cut their contact by 50%.  Watch the full update below:
