Starting June 2,  Region of Halton is allowing residents 80 years of age and over to reschedule their second dose appointments of COVID-19 vaccines.

“We are pleased to offer earlier second dose appointments for residents 80+ based on expected supply,” Halton Region Chair Gary Carr said.  The change is in line with a recent provincial announcement regarding the vaccine rollout.

“Accelerating second doses for those 80 years of age and older will help to further prevent severe illness and provide greater protection to those most at risk in our community,” Halton Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Hamidah Meghani said. Seniors can book through the Region’s online booking system.  Those who wish assistance can call 311 for help with rescheduling their appointments.

Residents are asked to continue following public health guidelines including staying home as much as possible, physical distancing from those outside your household, and wearing masks in indoor settings such as a grocery store.

Ontario reported an additional 1,033 cases of COVID-19 as of today.  Halton recorded an increase of 24 cases, with Milton counting an increase of 6 cases.
