The Region of Halton is again updating its COVID-19 vaccination plan. Residents 18 years of age and older will be eligible as of May 19, 2021 to book their vaccine appointments.
“We continue to make great progress and have already vaccinated over 50% of our community with the first dose,” Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr said. The Region is working with local school boards on a youth vaccination program, the details of which, will be shared once confirmed.
The Pfizer vaccine has been approved for use in students 12-17 years of age. “The more people we get vaccinated, the more people each and every day brings us closer to returning to normal,” Halton Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Hamidah Meghani said. Residents 18 years of age, and returning to school are encouraged to get the dose through the youth use program.
Halton continues to administer vaccine doses on a four month schedule, managing appointments as supplies allow. “We will continue to work with the Province to ensure vaccine supply is made available for all Halton residents who are eligible and wish to be vaccinated,” Region Spokesperson Elizabeth Kosturik said in an email.
