Infrastructure Ontario, Metrolinx Issue RFQ for Meadowvale, Milton GO Stations

Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx have issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) inviting bids for the design, build, and financing of the Milton, and Meadowvale Go Stations.

Both projects will include improvements to the bus loops, passenger pick-up/drop-off areas, pedestrian connections as well as bicycle storage, and platform upgrades.  The news follows the official announcement from Metrolinx last week. Meadowvale will require repairs to catch basins, and storm sewer lines.

The agencies are also inviting RFQ’s for some work on an operations facility.  According to DCN News service, this will include the partial demolition and retrofitting of a vacant office and warehouse building for future needs.

The projects are being financed under Infrastructure Ontario’s Alternative Financing Procurement.  This is a process guided by five principles including: transparency, accountability, value for money, public ownership and control and public interest.  It’s a process designed to make public infrastructure projects easier to build.

The RFQ process is expected to take six months.  The renovations could be shovel ready by next fall.
