Martin Luther King Jr. was a Baptist preacher, and American Civil Rights’ leader in the 1960’s. The quote in the cartoon above comes from his famous “I Have a Dream speech,” he made on August 28, 1963 as part of a civil rights march in Washington, D.C.
King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929. He died on April 4, 1968 after being shot in Memphis Tennessee. The holiday is marked on a yearly basis in the United States on the third Monday in January.
