Stephanie McManus had one dying wish. She wanted to see her horse Luna one last time. In 2013, McManus was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, which, is an aggressive form of blood cancer.
Zachary’s Paws for healing made it happen January 20, 2016. They brought Luna from her Milton-based stable to the Juravinski Hospital. McManus was brought down in a wheel chair to the hospital’s loading dock from her palliative care room. “She’s an animal that brings joy to people’s lives,” McManus said. Her visit with Luna cheered her up a lot.
Media reports say McManus died at 6am January 21, 2016 less than 24 hours after seeing Luna.
