Meghani Rescinds COVID-19 Instructions for Recreation and Indoor Sports

Halton Region Medical Officer of Health (MOH) Dr. Hamidah Meghani has announced a change in COVID-19 instructions.  The adjustment rescinds orders issued in November, 2021.

As of March 1, indoor sports, and recreation facilities will no longer have to require proof of vaccination.  The move falls in line with provincial reopening guidelines, and follows current public health trends.  Area hospitals have 12 patients currently being treated for COVID-19.  Seven designated as being in hospital for COVID-19 (patients who tested positive), and five patients with COVID-19 (those patients admitted for another cause, who tested positive)

In a letter posted to Halton Region’s website, Meghani urged residents to get vaccinated.  “There is clear evidence that two doses of a Health Canada- approved COVID-19 vaccine provide strong protection against sever disease, hospitalization and death (including from the Omicron-variant).  Three doses protect against disease transmission.”  Read the full letter here
