Milton Council is set for its first meeting in March tomorrow (March 4). A couple of items to keep in mind
Technical Report– Condo Towers at Drew Centre and Thompson Rd (west side): Town Staff are recommending the development of 3 towers (31, 29, and 27 storeys) be approved. Traffic remains a major issue at that corner, with drivers stuck at that intersection for multiple red lights depending on the time of day. Residents on the north side of Childs Drive raised issues about the building’s shadow. Parking is another plague of the area. There is never enough of it with transit users often using the Super Store plaza. Work is set to begin on changes to the GO Station.
Regional Government Notice of Motion: This one has been developing the last couple of meetings. The provincial government has appointed a three expert panel to review the structure of Regional Government. Mayor Krantz has revealed he had met with the panel. The general message from Halton Mayors is that the region is working well as it is. There has been increasing talk combining some services such as transit into some kind of region-wide system. The motion firmly opposes amalgamation.
The council meeting begins at 7pm in Council Chambers at 150 Mary St. Can’t make it? watch online, or follow along on the twitter feed: @MiltonReporter for highlights.
