Milton Council unanimously approved the Town’s first ever Cultural Plan: Here To Stay at its July 19 Council meeting . Its approval follows a months-long consultation process, and provides guidance for cultural policies for the next 10 years.
“With culture at the centre of community building and development, the culture plan is a path forward and provides a framework to integrate cultural planning into Town projects,” Mayor Gord Krantz said. The plan is organized under five different themes:
- Foster a cultural sector that is both resilient and collaborative
- Celebrate Milton’s Diversity
- Support Indigenous Cultural Resurgence
- Strengthen both economic, and social development that is led by culture
- Expand investment in a cultural infrastructure, including places, and spaces
