William and Cindy Beaulieu of Milton and Marc Duperrouzel of Brampton won $1 million by matching all seven ENCORE numbers precisely during a recent LOTTO 6/49 draw.
The group has been playing the lottery together for about six years, sometimes purchasing individual tickets, but their big win was due to their shared LOTTO 6/49 ticket.
“I took our ticket to the store to have it validated, and was surprised to discover we won $1 million,” said William, as the winners visited the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim their prize. “I didn’t believe it at first,” added Marc.
Since learning about their jackpot, the group has kept the news quiet, sharing that the win has brought a mix of relief and disbelief. “It’s unbelievable! We couldn’t have imagined this would happen to us,” said Cindy.
The trio plans to use their winnings to pay off bills. They purchased their winning ticket at Circle K on Bronte Street South in Milton. ENCORE offers 22 ways to win and can be added to most lottery games for an extra $1. Two draws are held daily.
