The second annual Milton Dessert Fest and Spring Fling Market turned the Milton Sports Centre into a haven for sweet lovers and local shoppers on April 12, drawing a steady crowd of families, foodies and community members for an afternoon of indulgence.
Running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the event featured more than 100 local bakers and makers offering everything from gourmet cookies and cupcakes to handmade crafts and decor. Live entertainment, spring-themed photo ops and a coffee bar rounded out the lineup, offering something for every age.
“We came for the desserts but ended up leaving with candles, art and even a few Easter gifts,” said Brenda Kaur, a Milton resident who attended with her two children. “It’s a great way to support local and enjoy a day out.”
Guests were treated to upbeat performances and colourful spring displays as they explored vendor booths lining Rink A. Children enjoyed face painting and games, while families paused to capture memories at Easter-themed backdrops.
Ahmed Farid, a local vendor, said he was blown away by the turnout.
“I couldn’t believe how many people came out,” he said. “This was our first time, and the response has been amazing. We’ve already been asked to return.”
The festival, hosted by Neighbourhood Events, has quickly become a seasonal highlight in Milton’s community calendar. Organizers expressed their gratitude online after the event.
“Milton, our hearts (and bellies) are full,” read a post on social media. “We had an absolute blast supporting local with you all — your energy, love for sweets and community spirit made it such a special day. To every vendor, guest and volunteer — thank you for making the day so sweet. We couldn’t do it without you!”
Neighbourhood Events also announced upcoming gatherings, including the Orangeville Night Market on July 5 at the Orangeville Fairgrounds and the return of the Fall Dessert Festival in Milton on Oct. 4 at Milton Community Park.
For Emily Tran, who attended with friends, the day was about more than just treats.
“We took so many cute photos today,” she said. “Everything was so beautiful and well organized. It’s more than a market — it’s a full-on experience.”
With bellies full and bags brimming with baked goods and artisan items, many attendees said they were already looking forward to the next sweet gathering.
Admission was $5, with free entry for children under 14.
