As of 12:01 a.m. this morning, Milton has entered stage 2 of the province’s reopening plan.
The second stage includes the expansion of outdoor activities, while expanding, or maintaining limits on indoor activities. The Town has laid out the following plans for reopening its facilities:
Sports & Recreation
- Outdoor sports: Groups of 25 or less will be able to apply for permits, provided they follow for health and safety protocols. Registered outdoor programs can resume
- All outdoor organized sports leagues will be able to resume
- Outdoor fairs, festivals and rural exhibitions will be limited to 25% capacity with other restrictions
- Athletes training for either this year’s summer games (Tokyo) or next year’s Winter games (Beijing) will be allowed to train indoors during scheduled times
Personal Fitness:
- The Town of Milton will offer pre-registered outdoor fitness programs limited to 25 people per class.
- Private Fitness professionals and gyms will be able to use outdoor spaces through a Facility book unit. However, they must provide their own insurance, and follow COVID-19 protocols
- Weddings/Funerals/Religious services, rites and ceremonies
- Outdoor services, rites/ceremonies are limited to the amount of people who can safely maintain a distance of 2 metres.
- Indoor weddings/funerals/ religious services are limited to 25% capacity
Gatherings:
- Outdoor gatherings, and public events are limited to 25 people. Permits are available through the Facility Booking unit. Eligible groups are required to have established health and safety protocols
- Indoor gatherings and public events are limited to five people. Indoor bookings for the Town of Milton facilities aren’t available at this time.
Water facilities:
- All outdoor splash pads, whirlpools, wading pools, pools and waters are open with capacity limited to allow for 2 metres physical distancing
- Spray Pads opened May 22, 2021
- Rotary Park Outdoor pool: June 19, 2021
- Swimming lessons remain closed until indoor pools reopen under stage 3
Town Hall:
Town Hall remains open from 8:30 to 4:30 for in-person or phone services. The Town is encouraging residents to continue making online payments for the following services:
The province will remain at stage 2 for approximately 3 weeks.
