Families in Milton have a reason to lace up their skates this March Break, as the town is offering free public skating sessions at two local arenas.
The Sherwood Community Centre and Milton Sports Centre will host several skating events, sponsored by local businesses and organizations, to provide residents with a fun and active way to spend their break.
For many parents, these free sessions are a welcome opportunity to keep kids entertained while promoting physical activity.
“My kids love skating, but with the cost of activities adding up, it’s nice to have free events like this,” said Nika Kakabini, a Milton parent. “It’s a great way for families to stay active together without worrying about expenses.”
For some, the timing of the skates adds an extra layer of significance. Amal Hussain, a local mother, said this March Break aligns with Ramadan, allowing her family to engage in community activities before breaking their fast in the evening.
“It’s wonderful to have these opportunities during Ramadan,” Hussain said. “Skating in the afternoon is a great way for my kids to stay active while we enjoy time together as a family.”
Milton resident Mark Davidson also praised the initiative, saying the evening skate on March 14 is perfect for parents who work during the day.
“With so many activities happening during work hours, it’s nice to have an evening option,” Davidson said. “I’ll be bringing my kids after dinner for some family fun.”
