The Town of Milton has finalized its 2025 budget, allocating $139.5 million to capital projects and $222.3 million to its operating budget to support programs and services for the growing community.
The budget, approved on Dec. 2, focuses on key priorities, including investments in personnel, technology, facilities, transit, and planned community growth.
The capital budget earmarks $139.5 million for 138 projects, covering new infrastructure to accommodate Milton’s expansion and rehabilitating and replacing existing assets. The operating budget allocates $222.3 million for daily operations, including fire services, snow clearing, road and park maintenance, transit, library services, stormwater management, and recreation programs.
Property taxes for 2025 will rise by 9.89 percent for Milton’s portion of residential taxes, contributing to a total estimated increase of 6.43 percent when including Halton Region and school board levies, pending regional budget approval. This translates to an approximate increase of $49.87 per $100,000 of assessed residential property value.
A home assessed at $600,000 will pay approximately $4,952 in total property taxes in 2025, with Milton maintaining one of the lowest tax rates among Ontario municipalities.
“Town Council and staff have developed a budget that balances residents’ service expectations with affordability. The 2025 budget prioritizes essential investments in transit, fire services, community safety, and road improvements, while keeping Town taxes among the lowest in the Province. We thank residents who shared their feedback throughout the budget process,” said Sammy Ijaz, budget chair and regional councillor.
Andrew Siltala, Milton’s chief administrative officer, said, “The 2025 budget addresses Milton’s continued commitment to investing in the services and community assets that residents tell us they value and rely on. It aligns our resources to support our long-term vision for Milton as a safe, dynamic, and responsive community. “
