Halton Region Public Health has issued a Cold Warning, effective Wednesday, February 19th, until temperatures rise above -15°C (without wind chill) or weather conditions improve.
Prolonged exposure to cold weather increases the risk of cold-related injuries such as frostbite and hypothermia, which can have severe health consequences.
The warning will remain in effect until conditions improve and the risks associated with prolonged exposure are reduced.
While anyone can be affected by extreme cold, those at higher risk include adults over 65, infants and young children, individuals with limited resources for shelter, and people who work or exercise outdoors.
