By: Laura Steiner

In early 2016, Dr. Heather Jones, Liane LaBarbera, and Joy Patterson met for the first time.  They wanted to make a difference in their community, and decided to form 100 Women Who Care.  The group meets four times a year, and have a membership of nearly 40 women.  Members are committed to $100/ meeting ($400/ year).

Each meeting they hear from three different charities, and then they vote for who they think deserves it.  October 11, marked their last meeting for 2017.  They heard from Milton Transitional Housing (MTH), the Townsend Smith Foundation, and the Alzheimer Society of Halton.  After the votes were counted awarded $3900 to Milton Transitional Housing.

The previous winner, Food 4 Kids, was awarded $3400.  The money earned went directly to food for approximately 80 children.  To learn more about 100 Women Who Care visit their website.
