The Purolator Tackle Hunger® National Red Bag campaign in Milton raised 16,126 pounds of food for the Food for Life and Salvation Army Milton food banks.
The campaign saw volunteers distribute approximately 6,000 red bags throughout the Milton community, asking residents to fill them with non-perishable food items and leave them on their doorsteps for collection by Purolator couriers.
“We put the call out to 15 communities across the country to support our second annual Purolator Tackle Hunger National Red Bag campaign, and they showed incredible generosity,” said John Ferguson, president and CEO of Purolator. “Purolator Tackle Hunger has been a part of our company’s DNA for more than 20 years, and we’ll continue to go the extra mile for our communities as long as there’s a need.”
“Thank you to Purolator and your incredible teams for your continued support of food banks during the Purolator Tackle Hunger National Red Bag campaign,” said Kirstin Beardsley, chief executive officer of Food Banks Canada.
“Each day, people across the country are making the heart-wrenching decision of whether to eat, pay rent, or forgo another basic essential. Thanks to your support—not only through this campaign but also through your financial contributions and in-kind shipping support—food banks across the country can help the most vulnerable in their communities.”
As part of Purolator’s ongoing commitment to alleviating hunger in the communities it serves, the company works closely with employees, partners, customers, Canadian food banks, and charitable organizations to collect food and monetary donations.
