Ontario has its first case of a rare blood clot linked to AstraZeneca.
The case has been identified as a 60-year old male who had one shot of the AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD vaccine. He has received treatment, and is recovering at home. No further details will be released in order to protect his privacy.
“This case marks the fourth case of VITT out of more than 1.1 million doses of the AstraZeneca/COVISSHIELD vaccine that have been administered in Canada to-date,” Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams said.
The AstraZeneca vaccine is being offered in Ontario pharmacies to residents age 40 years of and older. To book visit the province’s website
