The 2020 holiday season is going to look a different this year. The province of Ontario is encouraging residents to stick to their own household as the province ramps up for the Christmas season through December.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford made the announcement at his daily press conference. “I know there are many people looking forward to their traditional family celebrations at this time of year, but to keep your loved ones safe, traditions will have to be adjusted,” Ford said.
“The holidays are a special time of the year for many people, and while we all want to spend time with family and friends, we must celebrate safely to stop the spread of COVID-19,” Health Minister Christine Elliott said. Residents are being reminded to stick to safe holiday gatherings such as virtual holiday gatherings with friends and loved ones, or outdoor gatherings. Single person households are allowed to join another household. Ontario recorded an increase of 1373 cases, and 35 deaths.
Halton is currently in the “Red-Control” stage. There is a limit of five people for indoor social gatherings, and 25 for outdoor gatherings.
