The province of Ontario has extended its state of emergency until May 6, 2020. The extension applies to all emergency orders passed to date.
“We are making steady progress in our battle against this deadly virus, but we are not out of the woods by a long shot,” Premier Doug Ford said. Emergency orders passed to-date include off-peak electricity pricing, the closure of establishments, and the ban on public events and gatherings over five people.
The province also issued a new emergency order regarding Mental Health allowing addictions, and mental health agencies to redeploy staff between locations and programs as needed. “Every effort made by each of us to stay home, practise physical distancing and wash your hands has been, and will continue to be, the key to stopping the spread of this virus,” Ford said.
Agencies would be required to provide appropriate training and education in order to redeploy staff.
