The Ontario Traffic Council (OTC) is calling on young artists across the province to thank crossing guards through art.

The provincewide drawing contest, organized by the OTC School Crossing Programs Committee, has officially launched. Children will be given a chance to have their artwork featured on thank-you cards that will be distributed to Ontario’s school crossing guards during School Crossing Guard Appreciation Week, running June 1 to 5.

The contest is open to children between the ages of 4 and 14, with the submission deadline set for March 31. Participants are encouraged to get creative with the theme “Celebrating Our School Crossing Guards.”

According to the OTC, submissions should reflect a positive and inclusive representation of crossing guards. While the medium is up to the artist, all entries must be original works created on 8.5 x 11-inch paper.

The winning drawings will be announced on April 13 on the Ontario Traffic Council’s website.

Each participant can submit one entry by emailing a JPEG, PNG or PDF version of their artwork to traffic@otc.org, along with their first name, age, school, municipality and contact information.

By submitting artwork, parents and guardians provide consent for the drawing to be used for promotional purposes.
