Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man accused of committing indecent acts on GO Trains in two separate incidents earlier this month. The request comes as Halton officers also report arrests in two unrelated robbery cases in Oakville and Burlington.

Suspect sought in GO Train incidents

The Halton Regional Police Service says a man exposed himself and masturbated in front of female passengers in two separate incidents aboard Lakeshore West GO Trains in early May.

The first incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7. Police say the suspect was aboard a westbound train travelling from Toronto Union Station to Hamilton West Harbour (train 1733, coach 2317) when he masturbated over his shorts while staring at a female passenger.

The second incident occurred at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, on a train headed to Aldershot GO Station (train 1739, coach 2227). Police say the suspect exposed his genitals and again masturbated in front of a female passenger.

The suspect is described as a Black male with a medium-to-large build, standing about six-foot-two to six-foot-four. In both cases, he wore a beige baseball cap and black Crocs. During the first incident, he was dressed in a blue V-neck T-shirt, grey jacket and dark shorts; during the second, he wore a black T-shirt, shorts and headphones.

No injuries were reported in either case. A surveillance image of the suspect has been released.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2216 or submit a tip anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or haltoncrimestoppers.ca.

Five charged in Oakville camera store robbery

Police say five males were arrested after an armed robbery at Henry’s camera store on Hyde Park Gate in Oakville on Friday, May 16.

Around 1:40 p.m., multiple suspects armed with hammers smashed display cases and fled in a stolen white Acura heading east on Dundas Street West. A short time later, a witness called 911 after seeing individuals fleeing the vehicle, which had broken down near Bristol Circle and Winston Churchill Boulevard.

Police say they quickly arrested all five suspects.

Two 18-year-old males — one from North York and one from Toronto — and three 17-year-old males, two from North York and one from Toronto, are facing multiple charges. Offences include robbery, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, disobeying a court order and, in one case, possession of an automobile master key.

The identities of the youths are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. All five accused were held in custody pending bail hearings.

No injuries were reported.

Arrest made in attempted Burlington robbery

In a separate incident, a 26-year-old man from Mississauga was arrested after allegedly attempting to rob a Rogers store at Burlington Centre Mall.

Police say the suspect entered the store around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, wearing a mask and brandishing a knife. He allegedly forced an employee into a back room and stole several cellphones.

As the suspect attempted to flee, a security guard intervened and was slightly injured before police arrived to make the arrest.

Muayad Al-Qaysi is charged with robbery, disguise with intent, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with intent to resist arrest. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.

Investigators are also looking to identify a black sedan seen in the mall parking lot at the time. Anyone with dashcam or surveillance footage from the area between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. is asked to contact the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2316.
