A milestone moment in Canadian art history is coming to Halton Hills, as the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC) celebrates its 100th anniversary with a members’ exhibition.

The juried exhibition runs from Dec. 3 to Feb. 1, 2026 at the Helson Gallery and the Lower Sisnett Lobby.

Founded in November 1925 by 12 renowned Canadian artists, the CSPWC now includes more than 265 elected members from across the country, all dedicated to advancing the art of watercolour painting.

The exhibition will showcase paintings created in water-based media by both elected and associate members of the society.

Elected members’ works will be featured in the Helson Gallery (9 Church St., Georgetown), while associate members will exhibit in the Lower Sisnett Lobby.

All submissions will be juried by Kara Bruce, art curator of the Helson Gallery; Missy Acker, elected member of the CSPWC and Society of Animal Artists member; and Elizabeth Gilbert, president of the CSPWC.

As part of the celebrations, the Sally Jarvis Sloan Award, open to Canadian elected members, will be presented during the exhibition.

Halton Hills residents are invited to join artists and guests at the opening reception on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Helson Gallery.
