The Town of Milton is inviting public participation in an online survey exploring community and business sentiment related to advertising signage.
Sign By-Law 086-2009 regulates permanent advertising signage on private property within Milton. To ensure we are up to date with technological advancements, business marketing needs, and community expectations we are reviewing this by-law and seeking feedback. The responses provided will help guide staff in creating appropriate regulations that will address the needs and wants of the community. Residents and businesses are asked to provide feedback by completing a short survey on the Town of Milton website.
Two unique surveys were created, one for business and one for residents to allow the Town to gather feedback specific to each stakeholder group. The public survey includes questions related to sign locations within the Town as well as opinion on traditional billboard signs compared to electronic signage. The survey also solicits feedback of how signage impacts the Town’s streetscapes. The businesses survey seeks perspective on how different types of signage impact business success as well as feedback on the Town’s role as regulator. Both surveys consist of multiple choice questions and also provide an opportunity for open feedback.
To have your say visit www.milton.ca/signs to complete the survey. The survey will be available online until Tuesday April 18, 2017. Respondents who complete the survey by April 4 will also have an opportunity to win 2 tickets to the Just for Laughs Road Show at the Milton Centre for the Arts.
A revised by-law along with a report on the findings is expected to return to Council for approval in the fall.
