Sousa Addresses Halton, Peel Business Leaders

Finance Minister Charles Sousa, addressed the Mississauga Board of Trade earlier today.  He spoke about the government’s plan to grow the economy, create jobs and help more people benefit from the province’s strong economic growth.

Sousa met with business leaders from the Mississauga Brampton and Halton area to discuss how the government is implementing its plan and balancing the budget next year and the year after.  Sousa outlined the strategic investments the province has made – and continues to make – to support inclusive growth in the Peel and Halton regions.

The minister also hosted a pre-budget consultation at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga as part of a province-wide engagement process for the 2017 Budget.  “We believe it’s important for the government to hear directly from people about their priorities and understand what investments they want to see in their communities,” he said.

For the third year in a row, people across Ontario were also able to submit ideas through Budget Talks, an online consultation tool. The government will provide $3 million to fund up to eight proposals as part of the 2017 Budget, making Ontario the first province to commit to funding ideas from the public as part of its budget process.    Feedback on the 2017 provincial budget will be accepted until January 31, 2017
