The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) is working with the Town of Milton to study aircraft noise in four locations throughout the community. Temporary noise monitors will be installed at 5 sites in Milton beginning November 21, 2018.
The aircraft noise monitoring study will provide the community with a baseline of information to understand the impact of aircraft noise in Milton. The study comes in response to a request from Council after hearing concerns about aircraft noise raised by members of the community. The study results are expected to come to Council for information in spring 2019.
The noise monitoring study being undertaken in Milton is just one of the initiatives underway to understand and manage operational impacts. Other initiatives include: implementing six ideas aimed at reducing impacts from night-time air traffic, providing predictable respite from air traffic for some communities on summer weekends, and keeping aircraft at higher altitudes in portions of the approach path whenever possible. Additionally, the GTAA’s 2018-2022 Noise Management Action Plan includes nine new noise management programs based on ten commitments to the community.
Miltonians are encouraged to share feedback about aircraft operations with the GTAA’s Noise Management Office using their online noise complaint and investigation form or by phone at 416-247-7682.
