Downtown Milton was a sea of costumes and candy Saturday morning as thousands of families filled Main Street for the annual Tiny Tots Trick or Treat event hosted by the Downtown Milton Business Improvement Area.

From 10 a.m. to noon, the stretch between Martin and James streets was closed to traffic as children in colourful costumes visited local businesses for treats. The event also featured a scavenger hunt and family-friendly activities, continuing a tradition that has become a seasonal favourite.

“It’s something we look forward to every year,” said Sarah Kundli, who brought her two young children dressed as superheroes.

“It’s safe, it’s fun, and it really brings the community together.”

Local businesses lined the street with decorations and candy bowls, while parents snapped photos of their little ghosts and goblins. For many, the event is about more than sweets.

“Seeing Main Street packed with families is amazing,” said Musa Naqvi, owner of a local Pakistani restaurant. “It’s great for business, but more importantly, it’s great for Milton. It shows how connected we are.”

The festive atmosphere was felt by first-time participants as well. Emily Tran, who moved to Milton last year, said the event made her feel at home.

“We didn’t know what to expect, but this was incredible,” she said.

“My daughter loved the scavenger hunt, and we met so many friendly people. It’s a perfect way to celebrate Halloween.”

Kristina Tesser Derksen, Member of Parliament for Milton East — Halton Hills South, also joined the festivities.

“I had such a great time joining the Tiny Tots Trick or Treat in Downtown Milton and the Masquerade on Main in Downtown Georgetown yesterday, handing out candy to all the trick-or-treaters!” she said.

“It was wonderful to see so many families out enjoying the Halloween festivities and supporting our incredible local businesses. A big thank you to the Downtown Milton BIA and Downtown Georgetown BIA for organizing such fun, family-friendly events and bringing our communities together.”

Organizers say the showcase wouldn’t be possible without the support of local businesses and volunteers.

“This event is about creating memories and building community spirit,” the Downtown Milton BIA said in a statement.

As the morning wrapped up, families headed home with bags full of candy and smiles — proof that Milton’s Halloween tradition remains stronger than ever.
